Author's Bio

Jimmy Laura Smull Ph.D. is a cultural anthropologist who received her doctorate in philosophy of human science from Saybrook Institute in 2000. Her research centered on women disillusioned with the Adam and Eve mythology of fundamentalist religion who found their way to spiritual freedom.

Contributing to her research was a conference she organized for two hundred women in New York City on the subject of “Body, Mind and Spirit of Women.” Her findings led eventually to the development of a model for application to issues specifically experienced by women of our generation.

Dr. Smull has served on the board of the Institute of Human Origins (founded by Dr. Donald Johanson), an international research facility dedicated to paleontological discoveries of our earliest ancestors. Married and a mother, and grandmother, she is a respected businesswoman involved in the real estate industry.

Dr. Smull is also the co-author, with Dr. Carol Orsborn, of The Silver Pearl: Our Generation's Journey To Wisdom. (Ampersand Press, Fall 2005). “The Silver Pearl” synthesizes original research, psychological theory, spiritual principles and common sense into one hundred insightful readings.  The engaging stories deliver a message that is simple, but transformational.  The older we become, the more it is possible to achieve our fullest spiritual and psychological potential.  At last in the midst of our seasoned lives, we are becoming wise.
