 A LETTER TO MY READERS:
"HEALING EVE" offers women a way out from the oppression
of religious fundamentalism. Women have to confront the name "Eve",
first introduced to fundamentalists through
the Bible
story of creation in which God condemns the sinful Eve, not only for
disobeying Him, but tempting Adam as well. For this, God makes her
responsible for having all humankind expelled from the Garden of Eden
forever. Certain religions have reinforced this misconception by treating
women inferior to men. Everyday scores of women all over
the world are still stigmatized as "sinful" simply
because they were born female.
The
recovering fundamentalist needs to reclaim an inner and outer integrity:
making peace with both the programmed and reactive aspects of ourselves
to become whole.
My
three stages for recovery:
- Acknowledging your Programming
- Healing your Reactivity
- Reclaiming your Wisdom
These stages will help women reclaim their authenticity and have the
freedom to create a more meaningful life. The happy ending is that
having turned our backs on religious dogma, what we now embrace is
not within walls: it is our personal style of expressing
our spiritual selves.
